London 1950-ish

Rubble cleared. At last!

This is a colour-slide my Father took in either the late 40’s or early 50’s. It shows temporary housing – Nissen Huts –  (I think) in the bombed-out parts of the city. What it doesn’t show, unfortunately, is the empty city blocks where all that survived were the basements, those were just more holes in the ground, but with internal walls still standing.
